Indonesia Destination Guides > Moneychangers

Indonesia : Bali : General Info : Money : Moneychangers

Moneychangers

Moneychangers are plenty in tourist areas. But, you should beware of them, since many of them are unauthorized and often cheating. The exchange rates are commonly advertised on boards along the footpaths or windows outside the shops. You should look around for the best rates, since they do vary enormously. Exchange rates offered by moneychangers are usually better than the banks, but you should be careful of the ’authorized’ moneychangers. Sometimes in various tricky ways, the ‘good rates’ may inflict a financial loss on you. There were a number of reports from visitors that were cheated by these ‘authorized’ moneychangers.
