Money

Indonesia’s unit of currency is ‘Rupiah’, abbreviated ‘Rp’ followed by the value. There are coins worth 50, 100, 500 and 1000, while notes come in denominations of 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000. Please carry a variety of coins and small notes, especially when traveling to outlying areas, since the change for large notes often unavailable in smaller shops and stalls.
